Roman is one of Russia’s most decorated Paralympians.

Having lost his legs in a car accident in 2006 he debuted at an international level in 2007, achieving his first medal just 3 years later in Vancouver.

Whilst in hospital he watched the Paralympic Winter Games in Turin and met the former coach of the Paralympic team who inspired him to train in skiing and biathlon after his rehabilitation.

He is now looking forward to the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyongchang, South Korea where he will aim to match his triumphs at the Sochi Games where he won 6 medals and made history by becoming the single most successful athlete at the Games.

In 2012, 2013 and 2015 Petushkov was named as the Best Sportsman in the World by the IPC.

Petushkov began presenting the TV programme “Sporting Legends” on Russian TV this year.
